Description	Thrombopoietin (THPO) is a lineage-specific cytokine affecting proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes from their committed progenitor cells. It acts at a late stage of megakaryocyte development, and is a major physiological regulator of circulating platelets. Recombinant Human Thrombopoietin produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 174 amino acids with a MW of 18,608 Da which comprises the receptor binding domain of the Mpl-ligand protein.
